Woman always worry about eating too much protein may cause them to gain muscle, having in mind a bodybuilder. Nothing could be further from the truth, please girls, keep in mind, that to build muscle at that level requires hours of training plus strict diets, it does not happen overnight.
 
That is why we want to explain the importance to understand what “protein” is. Protein is one of the main components of every cell in our body, is the superstructure of bones, muscles, cartilage, skin and blood. Just like carbohydrates and fat, protein is a macronutrient” so you need large amounts of protein to stay healthy. Yet, protein is, unfortunately, not stored like carbs and fat, so you need to consume it daily in order to stay in good shape.
 
 Protein shakes and bars are always a great source when you are not on the mood for chicken breast or steak. Still, you should be careful when choosing your bars, most of them have hidden sugars that we actually don’t need, therefore, read carefully the list of ingredients, and stay away from those packed with this white rubbish. 
 
Some of the benefits of consuming protein are:
 
•Healthier and strong hair and nails.
•Glowing complexion.
•Increase of lean muscle (when we increase our muscle mass our body requires more energy, as a consequence we burn more calories).
• Helps you maintain healthy weight.
•Curbs your hunger by leveling your insulin levels.
 
 
 
 
Protein sources:
 
•Meat ( white-meat poultry, pork or lean beef)
•Low fat dairy products
•Fish and Seafood
•Eggs
•Legumes
•Dried fruits and nuts
 
 
And remember, woman need about 50 to 60 grams of protein to maintain lean muscle, if you want to increase your mass, you need to consume between 1, 5 to 2 grams per kg of your body weight.
