Ingredients:
- half pumpkin
- Three tablespoons of oil of your choice
- A kilogram of flour. It can be wholemeal or common flour.
- three tablespoons of salt
- A sachet of yeast or ferment powder
- three tablespoons of sugar
Steps:
Boil the squash. Discard skin and seeds. Mash the squash as if it were a porridge.
In a separate bowl, place the powdered ferment, the three tablespoons of sugar, and half a glass of warm water. Mix until the ferment and sugar have completely dissolved and let stand for fifteen minutes.
Add the flour and the pumpkin to the ferment and then add the three tablespoons of salt over the flour and without touching the ferment.
Mix the ingredients until you get a slightly sticky dough.
Let the dough rest for an hour.
Form small “balls” with the dough and place them well apart in a previously oiled baking dish.
Cook the pumpkin bread in a low or medium oven -180 degrees- for approximately twenty minutes.
You’ll know the loaves are done when tapping your finger on the bottom makes a “hollow” sound.
The buns are moist inside, and it is normal that there are small pieces of pumpkin that you feel when eating them.
You can add sesame, flax and chia seeds to the dough.
